Areas of Expertise

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is used to process distressing or traumatic memories that continue to influence your present functioning. By reducing the emotional charge of these memories, space is created for new perspectives and integration.

Schema Therapy

Schema Therapy focuses on long-standing patterns that developed earlier in life and continue to affect relationships, self-image, and emotional regulation. We identify maladaptive schemas and modes, and work toward developing healthier, more balanced ways of relating to yourself and others.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) helps you identify and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours that maintain psychological distress. It is practical and structured, focusing on reducing symptoms by developing clearer thinking and more adaptive coping strategies.

While CBT techniques are often incorporated when appropriate, protocol-based CBT for primary anxiety disorders is not my main area of expertise.

My Approach

About Me

I was born in Canada and moved to the Netherlands in 2009. I am also a single mother. Since completing my Master’s degree in 2011, I have worked primarily in specialised mental health care (sGGZ), in both inpatient and outpatient — including international — settings. In 2020, I completed the GZ-opleiding and now work as a licensed healthcare psychologist.

How I Work

I am drawn to the deeper layers that shape who we are — patterns, core beliefs, and emotional experiences that influence how we relate to ourselves and others. When growth stagnates, people often feel stuck, self-critical, overwhelmed, or caught in repeating patterns.

My work focuses on identifying what blocks that movement forward. This may involve unprocessed trauma, internal conflicts, relational patterns, limiting beliefs, or personality traits that once helped but now hinder.

Therapy with me is collaborative, reflective, and active. Insight is important, but so is translating that understanding into meaningful change — helping you move forward in a way that feels more aligned and authentic. While I am trained in CBT, my strength lies in depth-oriented approaches. As a native English speaker, sessions are primarily offered in English. Sessions in Dutch are also possible.
